The football team plays with the swagger the basketball team used to have. There's one person responsible for that - the coach.

Exactly, it has nothing to do with the players (sorry for the sarcasm Mike).

IMO I think it starts with the coach. In my experience teams adopt the personality of the coach, not the other way around.

These guys can't even substitute properly. I guess that's not the coaches fault either!!

The Bearcats football team and the coachg staff deserve all the credit for a great season and the beginning of better days ahead.

The coach is responsible for getting the players ready but swagger comes from within (the players).

You don't think Coach Kelly's personality isn't imbued in his players? They swagger mainly because they're winning, but they wouldn't be winning without his swagger.

They're winning because they're talented and confident. Swagger doesn't bring W.

Nothing personal, but have you played highly competitive sports? If so, you would know that you just don't create "swagger". It is developed. It is very difficult to have swagger when you are losing. Comparing UC's football team to the basketball team is apples to oranges, in this case.

Good, then you should know better and know what swagger is and how it is formed.

I agree, but try not to be a hypocrite:

Seems to me you are doing the same thing.
Okay, so here is my opinion: Swagger comes from winning. When you lose often, as they did last year, in addition to their first game this year, it makes if very difficult (IMO) to develop any kind of swagger. Doesn't make a difference what the coach says in the locker room.

Yes, I did notice that. I usually preface everything with that as well, just so there is no confusion.

Coach Kelly inherited a football team with a wealth of experience. To compare his and Mick's situation is apples and oranges. The best thing for these kids right now is to play tough games. It will make them work harder and understand what you need to bring every night to win. Swagger will come from winning, and knowing how to win. The win last night will aid in that process. When everything was on the line they won.

I think the coach has ALOT to do with the swaggar.
Pitino's teams, Huggins team, the 40 minutes of **** from the razorbacks etc...
I don't know how you could take the coach out of the Swaggar equation.

It's difficult not to literally get sad that this is where we're at, a 2 pt win over "western carolina" at home... is "everything on the line"?????
For the record.. I think the jury is still out on Kelly too! for the same reasons you've mentioned. Sometimes US wins in spite of his coaching, and the UL and PITT loses were pretty good examples.
He is riding on the backs of an expereinces QB and team. the Thing that I really like about Kelly is his PR. He has gotten the school behind them, which motivates the expereinced players. I like how he gives recognition to the fans and has the team run to the student section etc etc. BUT as far as a coach... there have been a NUMBER of times the play callling was VERY suspect....

A team cannot have any swagger unless it wins. To suggest otherwise is completely ridiculous.
