bearcats are winning right now and looking impressive...the freshman bishop got his first start and is lookin really good early...the SUPPOSED leader vaughn is really struggling he is 0-5 from the field and i really dont see any positives from this guy on the offensive end...he has been horrible shooting the ball in the first 3 games

Vaughn shot well in game one, but had 7 turnovers. He protected the ball well in the 2nd game and had a lot of assists and 1 TO, but shot horrible. I would love for him to get warm and put together a full game as he might have the most talent on the team - not potential, but due to experience the most current talent.

This is going to be a LONG year...and so will next year...and after last year this is going to get sickening.

I'm really glad the bball program got blown up the way it did. Winning was getting so old.

Dec. 19th, 2007 Memphis 7:00 PM ESPN2
Dec. 23rd, 2007 at North Carolina State 7:30 PM FSN
Dec. 29th, 2007 Miami (OH) 8:00 PM WXIX (U.S. Bank Arena)

Maybe now they will quit calling UC a basketball school and give the football team the respect they deserve.

You must have been chuckling when you typed that. :) I don't think there will be any easy games this year.

What kind of a play was that at the end? That was the best Mick could do? Everybody and their brother knows Vaughn's gonna get it.

If Coastal Carolina, Fairfield, and SC Upstate aren't easy Bearcat W games, I don't see too many others.

Here's what Majerus said after getting beat by Pitt tonight: "Pitt has unbelievable size and athleticism," Majerus said. "They just kicked our butt. I think they're going to have an excellent year. Blair reminds me of a young (Karl) Malone. He has phenomenal hands. I love that kid. I'd like to be his agent. He could be special."

"I told the coaches I made a couple of big mistakes," Majerus said. "I should have a timeout there in the second half."

The football team is getting respect. It's a great story, but they don't deserveanymore respect then they are getting until they can sustain it over a period of time...and it looks like they will.

As for the basketball team, a lot of very young, but very talented players. They'll take a lot of lumps this year, and next. The year after that will determine UC's outlook for sometime to come. But it certainly sucks to have to wait that long just to see if you have to wait another 20 years.

OK, I'm starting to get pissed at most of you. If Huggins was still around we would be worse than we are now because all of the things that didn't come out would have!!! We had to start over, we had no choice, we're better off than we could have been. We're young but talented, give the kids a break. They need support now, not bashing!!! If you're a true Bearcat you will support the team through whatever happens. We will be OK, it just takes time. Support the team!

How is the football team not getting respect?

Anyway - The team looked better at times but seemed to get tired. They started the game and the second half with a littme more bouncei n their step but over time, they seemed to drop off. (That's what 3 games in 3 days will do.)

I think they are showing improvement. McClain looks better than he did earlier; Williams looked really good when he got the ball in the high post; Vaughn showed some guts; Adam H. has some good post moves.

This year will be a struggle but I bet we'll get some surprises towards the end of the year. There's some good talent that is developing (as is the program.)

I support the team. I also think you are dead wrong. There is no chance that we are better off than we could have been. ZERO.

The team does need support, but it's ok to get a little pissed about how far we have fallen. "True Bearcat"??? What does that mean anyhow? Do you give out membership pins?

Did they show any improvement?

the first ten min until we lead 23-15 yes.. after that we went on a 16-2 drought to close out the half... beginning and end of second half was improved as well.. still mistakes but we shows some bright spots and we actually moved the ball pretty well.. we cant seem to pull togeather any offensive streaks as its hard to get it inside and shots r not really falling. when we get shots to fall we will beat some solid teams!

hats off to football but if mick is a good on the court coach it will be back to basketball b/c we r recruiting some great talent.. as for football.. great coach in kelly but he wont recruit like mick... he had defense given to him these are not his players lets see what he does with his players before we make this judgement as of now the 2010 basketball squad looks better then football.. lets hope both get some national prominance.. maybe then we will get two sport stars like the ohio st recruit.. lol

i read a quote of micks calling out gentry.. if a player did wrong i dont mind calling him out but he sated something along the lines of should of kept alvin in but thought that the veteran gentry would know what he was doing but it didnt turn out! on his post game show he pretty muched blamed gentry for the lost for not getting out on two shots.. if he was the only one doing it all day its fine and not saying he shouldnt of got out on the shot but all weekend marvin was the only one getting in the offesive players face.. he was all over the place and i wanna say coming in i thought he would struggle for playing time but besides him and vaughn and williamson it seems he is the only one that knows what it takes on defense to play on the bearcats in this con in regards to hustle.. yes he missed all seven shots today but he hustled all weekend and impressed me!

vaughn has shot fine over the course of the weekend and his play ove the course of the weekend didnt change my mind that he is the best player on this team considering the fresh need experience.. he turned the ball over the first lost but has been good otherwise!

If a coaching change was going to be made, it should have been done in 2004 or 2005 (not 2006).

Starting over from scratch WAS a choice.

And a bad one.

This stuff is getting old. Why can't people just move on? It was a choice the administration made, not the coaches, not the players. I truly believe some people on here like the ideal of this team losing as if in some way it it is payback for Huggins dismissal. Please admin do something to put a stop to this. Let the past beburied. We all know what happened and why. All we need to worry about is the present and future. I'm considering moving to another site because I simply despise this constant looking back and the "if Huggs were here" threads. My goodness the man is gone and he palyed as big a role in what happened as the administration did. He was not a saint!! Let him coach West Virginia and whoever he moves on to later and support this team. It is not the fault of this team!!! Move ON!!!!

It's not that. The loss of recruiting in 2005 and 2006 was poison for the UC program. Make the change at one time, not spread over 2 years.

I watched all 3 games this weekend and was not surprised with the outcomes, dissapointed yes, but not surprised. The team is loaded with Juco players picked up at the ninth hour last year and a bunch of TALENTED freshman, but they are still freshman. This freshman need to learn the ropes and understand what it takes to play at this level, and prepare themselves for the coming years. We will be okay, we just need to weather this storm of lackluster Juco talent and let the young players rise. After watching Bishop, McClain, Davis and Wilks play, how can you not see the potential and get excited. Yancy Gates and the Cash are only a year away.

Play Adam H and McClain together, Adam H high and McClain low. Adam H has no defensive presence but looks to have a nice 8-10 footer. MCClain has to
be in there to plug the bleeding of easy layups and put backs. I think they would compliment each other well. The bottom line Adam H cannot play center.

With MCClain back on defense the team can really gamble on full court pressure
for steals knowing that he is back there.

I say we need to have growing pains now with McClain perfecting his defensive game. He needs to be playing at least 80% of the time.

Defense is all attitude and determination. We can do that now and hope that
the team's offensive chemistry comes around later.

Bob is not here. Bob is gone. Bob has left the building.
He won't ever be here again except to play against UC.
