When UC is 15-0 and going to play Villanova, UC will be ranked in the top 20, playing a soft non conference schedule really helps your AP ranking.

X is awful, worse than Miami, O. They blew it when they hired Chris Mack. Thank you Mike Bobinski!

I have no love for X, but Mack did take them to the sweet 16 last year - 2OT loss to KSU. Next time Miami makes the sweet 16 post this comment again.

The sweet 16 last year was with Sean Miller's recruits, actually it was one guy named Jordan Crawford. You must not follow college basketball much. Miami beat X last week, Miami is awful as they have been drilled by Duke, Ohio State, Dayton , and got creamed by San Diego State at Millett and also lost to W-GB at Millett. XU's freshman class (Mack's first recruiting class) is awful, Griffen McKenzie should be playing at NKU, and Mack's recruiting class for next year completely fell apart. Once again thank you Mike Bobinski for this very bad hire, you finally struck out!

Note to self: Quit responding to the insanity.

Guess the team might as well not show up for the Nova game then, huh?

I think Mack is fine. His recruiting classes seem to be ranked pretty well and I know they are in on a couple really highly touted recruits.

Mick and Mack came into the most opposite of situations. Mack should have a shorter leash then Mick.

I think X really wanted a guy who would be one of them. Someone who would never leave Xavier.

The book is definitely still out with Chris Mack. Taking a team to the Sweet 16 is big time but in fairness what wasn't his team. It was indiana's... ha i kid.

But, it is also way too early to criticize the recruiting class.

Look at the true freshman for us. Gaines is redshirting, Jackson is averaging 2 ppg in 13 minutes of play. I like Justin but he has a ton of growing to do.

Jackson reminds me of a young Kenyon Martin...plays with an attitude, hustles his butt off, defends, blocks shots, can't shoot it in the ocean. Actually, I'm just joking about his shot. To me, his shot looks way better than Kenyons as a freshman. He just doesn't shoot much. His form is good and I think he will eventually be a good shooter. But, I love what happens to the defense and the press when he enters the game. He is also one of our better passers. He is as good at making the entry pass from the high post to the low post as anyone we've ever had. At times he is so quick making that pass that it appears he has already surveyed his options prior to himself receiving the ball and he just reacts quickly and drops a nice pass in to Yancy or Ibrahim for a layup or dunk. In all the years of watching incoming freshmen, I'm as excited about him as just about anyone we've gotten.

Outside of his offense needing to improve, he is the complete package and his attitude is just infectious. The tempo ratchets up a notch or two every time he comes in the game...and he pumps the crowd up too. We're going to enjoy watching this guy for the next 4 years.

Agreed. His offensive game is not bad, but he doesn't shoot.

My take? He knows his role! Can you guys believe it? We have players that are starting to take on certain roles: Justin is the "hype" man with his energy, etc.

when we have justin in covering the ball and wilks it creates alot of length to deflect passes on the pass.. I just dont like wilks reading skills.. the traps r most effective with parker or davis in.. but almost anyone we have has good defense
