I believe that this schedule is just what we needed for this year. I think you have to have confidence when you play this game. The Bearcats of old had it because we were winning every year and it became expected. Honestly some teams lost before they ever stepped on the court with us because they were so afraid of us. We were at our best when they were afraid of the press.

This team needed to get back to that feeling of expecting to win every game. Winning becomes contagious. I like that we are working on the press and that the 3 point shooting is getting better. I remember a few years back when Pitt had a really soft schedule. They made it into the top 20 and were undefeated. Nobody was giving them any respect though. Then they went to Syracuse or Lousiville and beat the crap out of them and then suddenly everyone started to have a different mindset about that team. They went on to lose only like 4 games and I think they won the conference.

I believe this is the type of year we will have but with 6 losses and we will not win the conference. It is just too tough. We will surprise. The press needs to be our weapon of choice. Keep on working on it and perfecting it Cats. We have the depth to play it. We can win with defense.

Then again I thought our football team was going to play really well this year too. I have a theory though that only one of the two sports can have a good year. So since football was so bad I think basketball will great.

I hope the Bearcats go 40-0 winning the NCAA Tourney. My how times have changed, UC won 2 NCAA Tourneys without playing 30 games, 26-3 in 1961 26-2 in 1962. This year they could play as many as 42 games. It was nice to have been around as a kid to see both NCAA tourney titles. The dissapointment of 1963 still pains me, why did Jucker go into the stall? How come the ref did not call traveling on Jerry Harkness?

I was talking about UC football and basketball. It seems as though the two sports can never be good at the same time.
