I was checking in on the uconn-pitt game and prior to tip-off, one of the announcers mentioned that jamie dixon has has great success w/ no nba draft picks (at least first round).
one of my fears of the Cats this year was the lack of a stud to take over a game. so far, it's been differnt guys playing that role, which i like, but was still concerned about this going into the meat of the schedule. after hearing that comment on tv, i feel better knowing it can be done that way.
just thought i'd share that piece of info to maybe provide some solace to other potentially nervous Bearcat fans.

pitt still regularly has all big east caliber players they depend on. just because they aren't depending on nba picks doesn't mean they aren't depending on top tier big east players at the ends of games. this year ashton gibbs and brad wannamaker are two of the top players in the conference although neither is a big time nba prospect.

If DeJuan Blaire had some knees he wouldve been first round.

I watched the entire game. Pitt will be darn near impossible to beat. They have talent, size and team players. Oth UConn has too much height for us on top of Kemba Walker. Both L's

no uconn is not a loss.. we play at home all you have to do is shut down walker they absolutely dont have too much size. I will bet it now we out rebound uconn.. the game will fepend on uconns shooting percentage.. if they dont shoot over like 42 percent they lose to cincy 8 out 10 times. we are a better team then uconn at years end remember that.

Oh, is that all? Why don't we just end world hunger while we're at it.
I agree with Lobot; don't see either of those games in our win column.

Maybe UConn is a lot better than they were last year when they couldn't beat us in 2 attempts.
Or, maybe we are better too, and we'll beat them this year, same as last year.

Before last night's game KenPom had our probability of beating Pitt at 14% and UConn at 61%. When he updates this morning, I expect them both to stay about the same. His model has not been as impressed with UConn as the human voters. He has them at #26.

You're right. Pitt is now at 13% and UConn at 64%. I agree with a couple of the earlier posters, however, that find UConn absolutely beatable. One man shows are dangerous come tournament time, no doubt, but they are not unbeatable by any stretch. Pitt manhandled them.

I agree, UCONN did not pass the eye test last night. Other than Walker the rest of the team is an average. I found them a lot of times just deferring to Walker and letting him make plays (which granted, he makes a ton of), but UCONN is definitely beatable and I think as the BE schedule plays out this will become more evident.
As for PITT, they look real good. They do everything well.

I like how quickly people are to chalk up losses for our team.
Both UConn and Pitt are beatable. Pitt played well last night but they don't always play that way. Gibbs ate our lunch last year but we have a much better defender at the 1 now. Also to say a team is too tall for us (ecspecially UCONN) is absurd. Everyone on our team is well above average in size for their position at the college level and never mind there are 6 guys on this team that have verts through the roof.
There is not one team we cannot match up in athletically (inlcuding Cuse) in the entire nation. We will never lose a game because we weren't fast enough or big enough.
If we play either UConn or Pitt (the much tougher game) and shoot 45% 73% 38% limit TO(s) to 8 then we are in both of these games.
We have more experience than UConn (not Pitt) and people seem to forget this team won 3 straight Big East games before losing on a beater to a very good WVU team.
I say we will likely lose to Pitt (20% chance to win) but can beat UConn (60% chance to win).

I think we matchup well with UConn and think we can beat them. If we played Pitt at home, I think we could win, but they rarely lose at home and I think it will be tough to take them down this year.

That is all that needs to be said. 100% correct. Make open shots, hit FTs, take care of ball, defend...
We'll go 11-7 at worst if we hit those numbers.

UCONN is good, but they are not as good as their ranking and there is certainly no reason this team should be afraid of them, especially at home.

thats all we have to do bc we match up well with them everywhere else.. we rebound better and defend better. if you guys are going to put the uconn game automatically in the L column then you A dont watch enough of uc this season and B dont have the right to bash this team for underachieving/bad coaching or anything else people bash them for because thats a losing mindset. saying any game for this team is a loss is the type of attitude the team doesnt need supporting them bc I know some of the players and their not thinking that way. losing was accepted for a few years here with teams that have the talent and thats why we lost alot of good games. a key part of the team text me last night saying that uconn does not have a shot against us. thats where the players are at right now. waste of time posting automatic loses on this blog get that **** out of here!

Kemba Walker is dominant. I don't know if UC can contain him. The other guys on UConn don't scare me as much. Pitt seems to have more inside/outside balance.

Actually, weighted for PT we are a little more experienced than Pitt. We rank 124th for experience while Pitt is 168th. UConn is 334th.
Also, THIS team did not do those things in the Big East tourney. That was last year's team and this year's team is better!
