That Oscar guy would probably make a case with his double digit rebounds.

How can you screw this up with your signature? Please retract/delete/change your post before you get made fun of. We don't want that.

That said, his dunk reminded me of other UC guards who dunked rebounds well. I thought that was the best since Mel's.

I stand corrected.

A classic Bearcat moment that made me think of some of Mel's best. Definitely set the tone.

So far this year, Dixon is averaging 3.0 rebounds per game:

Kenny Satterfield averaged 4.7 rebounds per game in 2000-2001

Lenny Stokes averaged 4.8 rebounds per game in 2001-2002

Dion is in good company and needs to keep up the good work to reach goals previuosly set but other U.C. players.

Speaking of stokes, did anyone see him there last night? Pretty cool to see him maxiell and patterson all celebrate with the team afterwards.

Probably not tall enough to average rebounding numbers like Stokes/Satterfield. Still, he's quite scrappy. His early steal from Frease / layup may have changed the entire tone of the game, last night. They were struggling at that point, & if it continued longer, the game might've played out differently (though not likely 20 pts differently). Still, it was a huge play.

I've described him as a role player in the past - this season he's certainly been better than I expected, thus far (I may end up eating crow). His jumpshot and ball handling both seem much better than last year. It'll be interesting to see if he is able to keep that up against the better BE teams.

I've always liked Dixon and felt he had the potential to be special. He has improved vastly this year relative to last year. His follow dunk last night reminded me of one of my favorite Bearcats of all time, Immanuel McElroy.

All of the players Dixon, Gates, Bishop, Wright, Thomas, Davis have shown tremendous improvement this year. In the next two weeks we'll see if they've improved enough to get us to the top of the Big East.

GO CATS!

you are basing his dribbling off that one play he has been a great ball handler

He just seemed to stand out last year as unreliable with the ball, and was a liability when he was forced to bring it up or when he ended up at the top of the half court offense. This year, I haven't really seen him turn it over hardly at all. Beyond that he just looks more confident and under control when he is handling it. Granted, we'll need to see how he looks with it against Syracuse, Pitt, Georgetown, Villanova, etc., to know for sure.

I've said it before in another thread, earlier this season and I'll say it again... Dion Dixon is a difference maker. It's not even necessarily the point and rebound stats that I care about as much as I do about the attitude he plays with (which btw, plays into rebounding directly). Bearcats have been missing an emotional, aggressive player with attitude for some time now... Dion Dixon brings it and like some of you have said...it absolutely does remind me of some of our favorite UC guards of the past. A little swagger is a good thing, he certainly has some swagger.....btw, I think his baseline dunk on Oklahoma was a bit nastier than last nights' awesome follow-up. Both were pretty sick though.

I think that Killa has that swagger too. Last night against x, Gates had that swagger. Maybe it is contagious. Let us hope so.

The coaches get a huge assist.

They set up plays so that Dixon was frequently posting up his smaller defender on the low block during the x game. x had no idea what to do. Caused chaos on their switches.
