Default Pead article - didn't hear this before

One tough kid - hope he continues to do well.

Rams rookie RB has taken hits since early age

"I'm not up to speed. I'm still trying to get the basics. But by the time the season comes, I want to be the same mind-set as (quarterback Sam) Bradford."

Even before the draft, Jackson expressed a willingness to work with any rookie running back the team brought in, as long as the rookie is willing to learn. That shouldn't be a problem with Pead, and Jackson likes what he sees so far.

Default Steven Jackson Sees '25 to 30 Plus' Touches, Back Up Role For Isaiah Pead

Quote:
What exactly was rookie running back Isaiah Pead drafted to do in St. Louis? Well, considering he was a second-round pick, the University of Cincinnati product would seem to have a pretty prominent role in store this season and in the years beyond. Incumbent St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson has a different take on the situation

"Yeah. I actually see him being a backup. If it's the way I want it, to continue to live out the legacy of my career, I will continue to be the workhorse. He can relieve me at times during the game, or when we need a change of pace against the defense."

Default Rookie Running Back Isaiah Pead Looking to Earn His Keep

Quote:
The St. Louis Rams chose former University of Cincinnati Bearcats’ running back Isaiah Pead in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft following a strong offseason that saw the 5’10″, 195 pound Pead earn MVP honors at the Senior Bowl.

Mike Mayock, a draft guro from the NFL Network, liked the fact that St. Louis brought in Pead, as expressed here.

“Pead is an explosive, burst accelerator”, according to Mayock. “He’s great in space. I love the fact that St. Louis took him. Remember, they’re trying to protect Sam Bradford, and you do that in a number of ways. Nobody is behind Steven Jackson, so you get this kid the ball in space.”

During the first week of camp, Pead has shown a little bit of everything. He has been seen fielding punts, receiving kickoffs, working as a gunner, running the ball, pass blocking and catching passes, all things Pead seems more than willing to do.

“I’m just trying to capitalize on opportunities, whatever that may be”, Pead said. “Whether running the ball, catching the ball, blocking, special teams, making a tackle- whatever it is, I’m here to earn my keep on this team and help this team start to win more.
