Default Titus Rubles is a Bearcat

per Bill Koch...

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/uc/2012/...medium=twitter

Does anyone have any inside info or video footage on him? I can't seem to find anything on him other than a few profile pages...our recruiting thread for "T-Rub" is also somewhat bare...

You may have already seen this - it's old, but there are some other links to follow, the 2009 stuff is really outdated because he's grown and put on weight:

Him and Chris Obekpa on the same team would be freaking awesome. And would definitely make us deep at positions we need to be deeper at.

Imagine the lineup and matchup issues we would present to teams with these lines:

PG: Cash, Guyn, JD3
SG: Killa, Sanders
SF: Parker, Thomas, Ellis
PF: Jackson, Rubles, Obekpa
C: Mbodj, Gaines

"And the fans were crazy at the Notre Dame game.”

Just reinforces how important it is to have good crowds at the games.

I am not sure Justin Jackson is ever a starting PF. Seems to me his greatest value is as a sixth man, energy off the bench.

I agree not to mention he can pick up fouls in a hurry.

Isn't Ellis 6'11 now? I heard he's really grown this year. Would that cause him to play the 4 spot more? I'm curious to see how his size and guard play mix.

That's what I've heard as well. With him being redshirted and us being deep at big I have to wonder if he'll play a really athletic center style next season to help spread the offense out in certain situations. I just don't see him starting or getting significant playing time at PF or C until his sophomore or junior year at the earliest especially with Rubles and Mbodj in the mix as Juco big men.

I also only have him penciled in at SF because of how lean he was last time I saw him. If he puts on about 30-40 pounds he's definitely playing PF/C and will be a tough player to guard if he's as good from the wing as the scouts let on especially as a big man.

In the end I trust whatever Mick decides to do because he's with these kids and knows their strengths and weaknesses. Next year will be fun but that's next year let's take this season one game at a time and BEAT OHIO STATE!!

great pickup. this team with its' makeup badly needed a juco scorer for the next two years given thomas had to redshirt. another big athletic guy is ideal, and allows you to use the other scholly on a true frosh. hopefully they can handle obekpa, but remember he is not a polished offensive player. these frosh recruits become bigger than life thru these message boards. he will need some time to develop offensively.

I hate comparing recruits to former players but I would have to say very similar to ruben Patterson. This is a very good pickup for the cats. Based on seeing him in person he probably weighs about 215 to 220. Check out his pic on his twitter. He has a nice frame
Ruben Patterson was possibly the most underrated player ever at uc and went on to be a solid pro. I know you said you hate to compare recruits to former players, and this is probably why, but if this guy has a game even remotely like Ruben it would be absolutely huge for the team next year. I expect that the 3 returning starters will do very well next year, but I think they are going to need some new help.

Hopefully Rubles improves the PF line. Any hope still that they can somehow improve the C position? Mbodj is such a dropoff from Gates. I understand big men aren't in abundance, but it is really going to be the weak link, next year.

I was going to say the same thing. A direct quote from a recruit turned commit just drives it home. Games like Syracuse and UL had to be big for recruiting and now with a Sweet 16 birth it's just compounding returns.

The UC men’s basketball team is expected to sign junior college forward Titus Rubles today on the first day of the spring signing period. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Rubles averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds last season and has two years of eligibility remaining.

With Rubles and JJ - UC has a couple of very intimidating big men. They both bring energy, defense, rebounding, and shot blocking. Great days ahead for UC!
