“He’s one of the best players in the country in terms of size, speed and skill level,” said New Heights AD Kimani Young. “He’s a 6-3 point guard who can dominate a game without scoring. He has tremendous upside. He’s already a solid Big East/ACC recruit.”

The talented guard has already taken unofficial visits to Villanova, George Mason and Rutgers. While no schools are standing out at the moment, Samuel says, “Cincinnati and Villanova have been to a lot of my games.”

Sounds like a back-up and replacement to Guyn! Would be a nice get with Savino opening doors in the NY/NJ area, I hope we can keep him and add more depth to assistant coaches.

Entering July with offers from Iowa State and Cincinnati, which he received in June, the rising junior was bound for a big summer. He has added offers from, “Rutgers, Villanova, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Oregon State and Arizona,” since the live period started. Along with those schools, Samuel has interest from, “St. John’s, St. Joe’s, Drexel, Iona, West Virginia and Seton Hall.” He has already visited Rutgers, St. John’s and Villanova.

Take this fwiw but Cincinnati Rivals uploaded some pictures of him on facebook so i checked out his page and according to it his college is UC. Of course he doesn't actually attend here but it seems like a sign that we are his favorite right now.

The Recruit Scoop: "West Virginia, UVA, Xavier, USF, Iowa State, Pitt, Louisville, Temple, Penn State & more have recently been in touch with Terrence Samuel."

I wonder if UC is still involved with him. Seemed to be a priority, but haven't heard anything since the summer.

RT @TheRecruitScoop: UConn has landed a commitment from 2013 South Shore (NY) guard Terrence Samuel

Honestly, what's the appeal of UConn right now? They have a successful program and have a winning tradition the last 20 or so years... but I've never heard anything good about Storrs, their coach is in bad health and could retire at any time and this team is ineligible for the tournament (among other issues).

I'm not the least bit bitter about him not choosing UC, I have no idea if the Bearcats were still involved. Just surprised.

(FWIW, #122 on Rivals)

Yeah I haveno idea why top recruits are still picking UCONN. It woudn't happen to be the illegal recruiting tactics or benefits. Serious what does there program even recruit on. Hey come to us Calhoun might die soon, you can''t play in the post season and we are gettin looked at by every NCAA investigator out there. Come ball with us. This just in KEMBA is long gone.

Like Dickie V likes to call............It's all about PT, playin time!

UConn doesn't have as much as they usually do, so there's plenty

of PT for some young, good recruits.

If it was all about playing time, Thabeet and Kemba should've chosen UC over UConn
