Another member of the Nuggets is signing in China, where — sorry, Denver fans — he won’t have an NBA opt-out clause. Via the Denver Post: “Longtime Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin will sign a contract to play with Xingiang Guanghui in the Chinese Basketball Association. Martin’s contract will be the the biggest in CBA history. ‘It’s a great opportunity for him to stay in shape and stay fresh,’ said Andy Miller, Martin’s agent. ‘And it also gives him an opportunity to expand his name globally.’ It’s an exciting career opportunity for Martin, an unrestricted free agent, who won’t have an out-clause in his contract. The CBA ends on Feb. 16, but Martin’s team is talented and could make a playoff run toward the end of March. Wilson Chandler and J.R. Smith, Martin’s Denver teammates, are also playing in China this year.” |

Good move by Kenyon.
He is probably not going to receive a bigger contract in the NBA. In fact, this is most likely his last contract of any kind. He should go out playing and not out of a lockout situation. |

The former Net and Denver Nugget is considering the Knicks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks. |

Kenyon got a ruling from FIBA today that allows him to sign in the NBA immediately. Knicks want him.

Not a great call imo..
Would have been a fantastic fit in Miami, and would have gotten a ring out of the deal. |

Clippers were dominated in the first half at Memphis yesterday. Kenyon played a solid 10 minutes with good D and couple buckets.
I didn't watch the second, but the route was on and MEM went into the 4th up by 21. Clippers end up winning by 1. Kenyon comes off the bench and guards Rudy Gay on the final play, forcing him to take a tough shot that came up short. Kenyon played no more than 5 minutes in the second half but was inserted for lock down D at the end. Love it. |
