Default Butch Jones Ranked #1 Head Coach in Big East

Quote:
1. Butch Jones, Cincinnati

Jones cleaned house in Year 1, dealt with significant injuries and had some wondering about him after a three-win debut. Now look: 10 wins in 2011 from a team that probably shouldn’t have reached that high. Next problem for UC: keeping Jones.

“If you’re just looking at the surface, you see him winning with what Brian Kelly built. Don’t believe that garbage. He can coach. He was one of those guys a few years ago where you just knew big things were coming his way. He’s not done, either. Not by a longshot.” — NFL scout

Yeah. Read that article yesterday, and totally agree that CBJ is tops in the conference. But, that list is not without flaws. First of all, no mention of the Syracuse coach on that list, and the Orange WILL still be in the BE this year, along with Pitt, whose coach was included on the list. Not that I give a hoot about 'Cuse, but I find it hard to give credibility to a list that carelessly omits somebody who must be on that list.
Secondly, not that it's necessarily a flaw on the list, but I have become very annoyed at everyone who qualifies a good run at UC as a springboard to a "better" coaching job. What gives the SN the right to blatantly claim that our coach is one more good season away from being a goner? Yes, the shortcomings of our athletic department are well-documented. But consistent winning has helped to eradicate those shortcomings and bridge the gap between ours and other major programs. Part of that consistency is predicated upon keeping a coaching staff in place and building on a tradition of success.
It is very likely that Coach Jones eventually moves on from UC. After all, there are only a handful of jobs in college football that are impossible to walk away from. But, I bet that UC's coaching turnover since the days of good old Rick Minter (bless his heart) is not THAT much different from 90% of the schools out there; and that includes the "better" programs. But, I would like to think that based on its location in a big media market, with plenty of recruits to draw from, and it being in a nice city, with plenty around town to do and see, that UC would be a destination job, just as much as any school situated in some corn field, that just happens to have a stadium that seats 100,000.
Yes, I agree that CBJ is the best coach in the conference and I feel privileged to have him. But, can't we just ENJOY having him without the gasbags saying that it's a foregone conclusion that he has one foot out the door. I know, I know. It's the cost of prosperity, I guess. But, it's darn aggravating as well.

Winning with what BK built?

What did he build exactly? IMO BK was winning with what Dantonio built and then left the cupboard pretty bare.
