Default OT: Andy Kennedy Arrested!

CINCINNATI -- A former interim University of Cincinnati's head men's basketball coach was arrested early Thursday on an assault charge.

A complaint filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court states that Andy Kennedy "punched victim with a closed fist while shouting racial slurs."

The victim was a cab driver.

No other information has been released so far.

Kennedy was named interim head coach after Bob Huggins was fired in 2005. At the end of the season, Mick Cronin was hired as the head coach and Kennedy become the head coach at Mississippi.

Kennedy is in Cincinnati because Ole Miss plays Louisville in the SEC/Big East Invitational doubleheader at U.S. Bank Arena. Thursday night.

Stay tuned to News 5 and WLWT.com for the latest on this story.

I thought it was a fake story that a friend e-mailed me! I guess he isn't coaching tonight, but man I didn't want this to be the headline story when he was in town.

Very unfortunate. Although unsaid, I bet the alcohol devil played a major role in the incident. Also, it is just an allegation, but these things don't just pop up out of thin air.

I am not sure about the great coach part. It stinks that he made such a bad choice and I imagine alcohol played a major role.

No need to comment further on this. This is another school's problem, not ours.
