Good luck, Yancy!
The way Mick explains it, it's a good move for Yancy, both from a financial standpoint and from a developmental standpoint. Maybe in a couple years we'll see Gates in the NBA. I'm proud of the way Yancy has handled himself as a player and a person, especially after the "brawl", and I do not doubt that he will have a very good career as a professional basketball player. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...ithuanian_Team |

He has always come off immature and lacking work ethic. Thats why he is overseas.

Eric Hicks, James White, Bobby Brannen, Steve Logan, Kenny Satterfield, and Dion Dixon also played overseas. Were they also immature and lacking work ethic?

years, there's no way you could make statement about him. How would you like someone talking about your kid that way, especially when they don't know them!!! Absolutely a terrible thing to say! ![]()

White never fully put it together. Brannen chose not to play in the NBA. Logan held out on a contract dispute then blew out his knee. Ksat- yes, immature. should have been in the NBA. Dixon - no where near NBA level of play. Yancy - just wasnt great. Good player. solid career. Will never find a home in the NBA. No motor. No mental toughness. No footspeed. No post moves. |

He definately never played to his potential. If he would of learned or wanted to just live on the low blocks with some post moves he would of been unguardable in college and been in the league. But if my grandma had nuts she would of been grandpa. But I would give my nuts to play anywhere and make the bank he's about to make playing ball, so GOOD LUCK GATES!

Brannen had no hope of ever playing in the NBA...he chose not to? C'mon! Logan didn't have the speed to hang...would have been a bit player at best Agree with you on Hicks, KSat & Dixon Last edited by juckerrules : 08-19-2012 at 08:02 PM. |

Gates had a good career at UC, and was certainly a very important piece in the sweet 16 team last year. However, I am not going to miss him at all because he was by far the most frustrating UC player I have ever watched. He had all the physical tools, but just lacked the aggressive edge that is required to be a superior big man. With that being said I really hope he does well overseas.

I wish him the best but I think our offense will be better without him.

The funniest part to all of this is. If I would have told you when he arrived that his Senior year he would be a key player on a sweet sixteen team. Everyone would have said I would take that. Now its not good enough. I wish all players that played at UC good luck in life and basketball! I dont care if they score 1000 points in a season or 1.
