Default First Polls

Well, at least we've cracked the vaunted pre-season "Others Receiving Votes" list, which is something that does not happen too often for our Bearcats. Hopefully someday we'll be worthy enough to start the season ranked in the actual Top 25. But, for now it's a step in the right direction.
More love from the USA than the AP. Remember, it's not how you start but how you finish.

Go Bearcats!

The preseason rankings process should be done away with altogether. None of these teams has done a thing to deserve or earn these ranking. I'd be in favor of starting rankings no earlier than the end of the 4th week after most teams have completed a minimum of one conference game.

You'd love to say that rankings like this don't matter, but when you start this low, you need tremendous luck to get into the top 2 by the end of the year, even when undefeated.

Sounds like a ridiculous worry until you remember that it just about happened to UC. A missed FG from the NC game, but took a couple late season losses that year just to get to a position for Nebraska/Texas to matter.

So yeah, these things matter. South Fla, UCF, ahead of us? ND with 86 votes? Cmon.

UC has been in the final AP top 25 4 out of the last 5 years. Wouldn't it make sense to put them in the preseason poll solely on that fact alone? It seems like Notre Dame can live off of things they did 20+ years ago, however past history for UC seems to be irrelevant.

We got 3 votes in the AP poll. Good for 39th place.
