Default Off Campus Tailgating Lots

This has probably been discussed in another thread and if it needs to be bumped mods feel free to do so!

Our crew is debating between the Grid and going off campus. We have all the info we need about the Grid but one of the others was wanting to know what lot would replace Schiel School?

It's sort of sad that lot was destroyed. It was the 2nd biggest off campus lot and had a great group of people going there.

I figure UCFD crew and their truck has to be going to Bogart's or Martino's as I don't imagine the UC Environmental Club appreciating a truck going on their green space (I'm sure they weren't thrilled with the idea of the Grid either.).

If we could get some info from former Schiel School lot goers and hear where everyone else is going our group would be grateful.

Lot 22 is the only one out of question. It's to far and no one is interested in shuttling to and from the game.

Just to bump this thread more, I am interested to find a list of common areas to tailgate, other than the grid since it is so limited and I don't know anybody already tailgating there. To be honest I've never tailgated for a UC game before even though I go to a couple games each year I've just never had any friends that were UC fans too, or who wanted to tailgate at a UC game. Was curious where people go and maybe I'll make some UC friends for the future.

Won't happen, but the EPA lot would be a great option. Maybe if you write your congressman and senators. Trees, grass areas, short walk to Nippert.

From www.GoBearcats.com It's a little outdated (Schiel School is history) but sums up all of the options still available

TAILGATE WITH THE BEARCATS

Tailgating is part of the fun of attending college football games and fans attending University of Cincinnati home games have several options for their pregame celebrating.

Tailgating not only guarantees a great parking space, but allows you to pack your own food, grills, beverages, and all the necessary essentials for your very own pregame party.

ON-CAMPUS TAILGATING LOT:

Lot 22: located off Martin Luther King in front of the UC medical center between Bellevue and Highland Avenue. Passes are sold on a season basis. Season passes are $72 per space.

ADDITIONAL TAILGATING LOTS

Schiel School Lot:

Located on the corner of Vine and Daniels Streets, across from the Sigma Sigma house.

Bogart's Lot:

Located behind Bogart's on the corner of Glendora Street and Corry Boulevard.

Martino's Lot:

Located directly behind Martino's Restaurant on Short Vine.

Charlton Lot:

Adjacent to LaRosa's located on Short Vine.

Benchmark Lot:

Across from the Post Office on Short Vine.

Spaces are available on a first-come basis. Both season and individual game day passes will be sold.

For more information or to purchase a lot space, call Martino's at 513-221-8487 or visit www.RockShortVine.com

Our inclination is to go to Bogarts. It's decent size for Clifton and in close proximity to the stadium.

Lot 22 is not that bad. We were there 2 years ago. Had it not been a bad year for the Cats, the lot would have been great for tailgating. Attendance was down as was tailgating. The first few games had an excellent crowd but it declined throughout the year.

It really is not that bad of a walk. We never used the shuttle. Always walked with adult beverage in hand. Never a problem.
I know A LOT of college football fans that would be happy to pay $72 for a tailgate spot that close!

We're going to be GridIron'ers until it's death (which I don't anticipate happening anytime soon). Great idea by the UC staff and it's much more convenient than you think. Very easy drop-off and pick-up of tailgate stuff.

GoUC11, If you figure out where a lot of the schiel school lot people are going please let us know. We own the large Black "UPS" style truck and always parked just up from the guy that owned UCFD Truck. We loved the crowd there but not sure where we are headed. We did Martinos lot for the last game last year but would like to spread out a little more.

Really? Maybe I just have too much stuff (generator, TV, tables, tent, etc.) but it was hard getting it all from the dropoff spot to our location on the grid. I left it there for the first game, but I never saw security so I was worried about leaving it there during the game (as they said you can do). So in future games it became a bear to get it to the site, then back to the car to be locked before game time. With it only opening 4 hours ahead of time, it left about 2.5 "real" tailgate hours. I loved the atmosphere though. I couldn't pull the trigger again for $275. Too pricey for the hassle.

Schiel School Lot & Benchmark Parking lot are not there anymore. Uptown is building new apartment buildings at both locations.

Don't forget the parking garages. We call it our 'vertical tailgating'.

This spells out exactly what our group is concerned about.

We have a box containing a generator, portable satellite dish, stereo system, margaritaville grill, and then all the other tailgating supplies one needs.

We've pretty much come to the consensus that the Bogart's lot is going to be the place for us from here on out...or until another development goes up.

I had a pop up tent, multiple chairs and coolers, a grill and some other random stuff. Never had any issues with things missing when we got back after the game. Usually we packed up before heading in for the game to make it easier to load the car.

I agree it's somewhat of a pain to have to unload/park/set up/tear down/get car and pack up, but the environment is really what makes it worthwhile for my group.

I've got the UCFD truck. We'll actually be on the grid this year.

We held off last year because of hearing about the time restrictions, etc. After talking to some people about their experience with the grid, we decided to go ahead and try it. The gentleman who runs the 1200 Club, Keith, also runs the grid. He worked very hard to get our presence approved. The process had been ongoing for almost 9 months. They are doing all they can to make it an entertaining environment.

How tight are they on the time restrictions? Especially with packing up. Our crew usually hangs around for awhile
