Can you say recruiting violations? OJ Mayo didn't exactly help out the USC basketball program and given where Huggs led us to with academic probation we would be staring at a NCAA death penalty which is much worse than a self-imposed one and we all know how much the fans appreciated and accepted that one.

However, this all fell on Huggs.

BTW - Was it Huggs the recruiter or his assistants. He had Mick who seems to be able to grab some recruits and Mr. Martin seems to still be doing well at K-State. Not sure what he has done at WVU.
Screw anyone would have given him a ride home....even if that wasn't true, which it is....we paid the guy over a million dollars a year. You think he could've afforded to shell out $30 for a cab ride home like I do making less than 6% of that.

Ok, let me try this again: "I retract any statement or inference that Mick Cronin may have been involved in illegal recruiting.". How's that?

Sorry but this sounds like so many "had an affair with so and so's wife/girlfriend and that's why they're losing" rumors. NCAA and rivals would have gone to town on any rumors or evidence that UC was paying players. I really hope you have more to go on than hearing "through the grapevine".

K-sat was at the beginning of the NYC area inroads that are still bringing players westward. Demarr was sold on being the last piece to a NC puzzle.

If you have evidence that they were paid, I don't want to stick my head in the sand, but right now you're impugning the program you're a fan of?

This thread is going somewhere it shouldn't be going. Stick to recruiting Chicago please. Thanks.

My preference is for solid 4 year recruits. I think we only take a one and done when he will be the missing piece for a NC run (a la DerMarr). I'm glad that Mick is building a program. I'd take a team of I-Mac, Eric Hicks any day . . .

BTW love SK because he reminds me of I-Mac.

Here is an interesting piece from Mike DeCourcy re Calipari & One and Done - http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-bas...competition-wi

An issue the article raises is how it effects recruiting, especially when players go unexpectedly - think K-Satt.

I think a good example of a team that has lived or died by one-and-done caliber players is Ohio State. It seems their seasons are feast or famine since they practically have to rebuild every year. Under this assumption, would you rather have a team that is NIT bound once every four or five years followed by a first or second round exit in the NCAA tournament for two or three years followed by a deep run (Elite Eight, Final Four), or would you prefer a team that gets better every year for example one that makes it to the NCAAs every year but loses in the round of 32 one year, followed by a Sweet Sixteen appearance the next, and maybe an Elite Eight or Final Four that last two years?

I asked a similar question in the What are your expectations for the program? thread and I'm trying to assess what level of success UC fans expect.

Can someone who knows NCAA recruiting regulations tell me if Paul Pierce of the Celtics is allowed to TWEET this (which he did - his grammar, not mine):

Shabazz need to go Kansas

Unless he has a prior relationship with Shabazz dating to before his college recruitment that's a secondary violation. Period. Paul Pierce is a Kansas Alum and clearly acting in the interest of KU on this one.

Have to imagine Pierce has given a dollar or two of that NBA money back to KU which would technically qualify him as a booster would it not?.
