Default Joe Boisture - QB - MSU Trasfer?

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports...ichigan-state/

Quote:
Buried on the quarterback depth chart with almost no non-injury hope of climbing up before 2012, Joe Boisture has decided to leave Michigan State.

In a statement released to Rivals.com, Boisture praised the football program but intimated that his collegiate career would be better served by moving on from East Lansing.

“It is in my best interest that I have decided to leave the Michigan State football program,” Boisture said. “I love the university, my teammates, the medical staff and most of all Coach Dantonio. Coach D truly cares about me and all of his players off the field as well as on the field.

“I have the utmost respect for him as a coach and person and wish him and the Spartans nothing but success.”

Boisture, who took his redshirt in 2010 after participating in spring practice as an early enrollee, was a four-star member of the Spartans’ 2010 recruiting class and was the No. 18 pro-style quarterback in the country according to Rivals. He had originally given a verbal commitment to Boston College before flipping the commit to MSU in the summer of 2009. There was also a significant amount of interest from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and UCLA during his recruitment.

If Boisture had stayed at with the Spartans, he would’ve entered spring practice — and likely summer camp and the regular season as well — behind senior starter Kirk Cousins and sophomore backup Andrew Maxwell on the depth chart.

Bring him in. I was pretty bummed when he didn't pick UC originally. Seems to have good size and skills.

Do we need a pro style QB for a spread head coach?

Tony Pike seemed to work out pretty well.

Agreed. A Pro style QB should be able to run the spread even more effectively. I like QB's who can use their feet when need be, but a strong armed quick decision making, accurate thrower would be welcome in a spread offense. I do not wish to rely on the QB's feet to make a play when the play breaks down, though that is a nice plus, it would not be the first thing for which I look when evaluating QB prospects.

I`d rather have Tate Forcier who just decided to transfer from Michigan. He fits the offense better and has actually played in and won games.

I'd be willing to bet neither of these QB's are coming here. They'll go somewhere with fewer QB's than we have.

1. Collaros/Luallen
2. Collaros/Luallen
3. Kay/Anderson
4. Kay/Anderson
5. Coyne/Legaux
6. Coyne/Legaux
7. West

Wasn't he kicked off UM's team, though? I thought he was academically ineligible there.

If Tate Forcier was to come here after sitting out for a year he would be hard to beat out in this offense. In my opinion he is a great fit for this offense. But I like Kay and Coyne aswell, so I would be fine if he came here or not. I don't think you will see the MSU QB come here, he is a pro style QB but you never know Pike did pretty well in the spread without being a great running QB

He was ineligible not because he failed but because he had a couple of incompletes. So I dont think it was necessarily a problem of him failing out.

We don't necessarily need a super athletic QB in this offense. Zach didn't run near as much this year as he did during his 2009 stint. In fact, he threw a lot in the pocket. BK was very high on Boisture early in the 2010 recruiting class. I don't think he ends up here, though. I could definitely see him going CMU/EMU/WMU for early PT. Either that, or what has become popular, going to JC for a year to get PT right away and then transfer back to a BCS program after lighting it up in the JC ranks.

He would have to sit out a year anyway so academics wouldn't be a problem.

How many years of eligibility does he have left? I only seeming him doing that if he would have atleast 2 years left in Division 1.

He was a true freshman this year which he redshirted. He'll have 3 years of eligibility to play D-1A whether he goes to JC next year or uses it as his transfer year. FYI, Cody Kater is also going to a JC next year to get some live experience and hopes to transfer to a D-1A program after that. It works out well because after the fall of playing at a JC, you can just transfer to the D-1A school for the winter/spring semester and participate in spring practice.

If you ever visit his family's website, it's impossible to disagree with this statement. No thank you to Tate.

2 years is plenty of eligibility when you consider the fact that he would have to sit out a year. Zack graduates next year and we`d have a junior QB with experience waiting to take over.
