I dont like how we were at this meeting and Louisville was not. That makes me think they know something or already got an invite behind closed doors and we did not.

I think you read it wrong. It said Louisville was there.

I'm pretty sure it said Louisville was not there.

If we don't get an invite to the Big-12, I like this idea to hang onto the AQ in some form or fashion:

Quote:
Also, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the commissioners of the Mountain West and Conference USA, Craig Thompson and Britton Banowsky, would meet with Big East commissioner John Marinatto today to discuss a football superconference of 28 to 32 teams, though a conference spokes-man told ESPN no in-person meeting was scheduled.

“We would figure out some way – four divisions of seven teams each, a playoff and then a conference championship game – to come up with the (automatic qualifier),” UNLV athletic director Jim Liven good told the Review-Journal.

Right out of the article....

They were and were not there is the matter of two sentences.

West Virginia, which as reported in yesterday's Post will join the Big 12 in 2013, and Louisville, which is also being eyed by the Big 12, did not attend. It is believed that representatives of the other FBS members – Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers and South Florida were at the Washington meeting

Stole this from another thread. Would explain why Louisville wasn't there.

If we really want to start reading into things - our new AD mentioned in one interview I read that his ideal day would include having a 'student athlete' graduate and beat Louisville on the same day... I doubt he would be emphasizing that rivalry if they were about to jump to another league where the possibility would arise of the game not being played each year.

Ok, I'll stop grasping at straws here... :-)

I'm taking this as confirmation that UC will accompany Louisville to the B12 shortly.

Seriously though, does the UC / Louisville moving in tandem bundle have any legs or is this something that's just caught on?

I think it would show pretty bad form for the Big 12 to invite WVU and recant...so if UL goes...I wonder if they save face by adding both...along with a 3rd candidate not named BYU to get to 12 Perhaps the plan was to invite both anyway and move to 12 teams.

It's interesting that our new AD is from the Big 12 and that he mentioned the revenue sharing advantage UC would have if they were in the Big 12??? I am not sure I would recommend that type of talk since we are still in the Big East...unless he knows something that we don't.

I'm sure both would like the idea of moving together, but either one would gladly sell the other out for a lifeboat out of the Big East.

It makes sense, but I've not seen anything that indicates either school has actually stated or hinted at this.

Louisville is my favorite rivalry, but I'd happily wave goodbye for a B12 invite.

Looks like BB coaches are wanting to be heard. Can't tell from article if he's for the B12 though.

The Big East is like a bad action movie villain -- you keep pumping it full of bullets and it refuses to die.

College Football: Parity, Not Defections, Killing Big East

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/9...lling-big-east

Surprisingly, the fate of the football-playing schools may be determined by something other than comically bad management.

The imminent fall of Big East football may be the result of parity.

College football, like it or not, has been built on dynasties.

Looks like official invites have been sent out (unofficially).
