Following him on twitter he has given no indication that he is doing so.

I could see him tossing his name in the ring but not hiring an agent (thus retaining NCAA eligibility) and getting feedback from the NBA Undergrad Committee. I wouldn't fault him for this as it would provide valuable feedback on what he needs to do moving forward.

The only reason I could see him leaving this year is if it is because of family money issues. I heard somewhere he has a daughter (confirm, anyone?) and that may factor in to the decision if it is true.

SK leaving this year vs next year comes down to what he prefers. Leaving this year he is playing just to survive in all likelihood. He'll have a hard time breaking through, getting guaranteed money, and stands a good chance of having to go overseas.

Leaving next year (or after his Sr. season) he looks at being one of the premier players in the BE and gaining more national attention. He scraped the surface this year, more great things are to come. With this he looks at being a 1st round pick and a player NBA teams will have near the top of their list.

He would probably go undrafted this year;possibly late 2nd. He needs all 4 years here imo

He needs to stay at UC. If he enters he goes undrafted and ends up overseas

He should ask his good friend Lance how that early entry has worked out?

I find this difficult to believe. I notice on the link provided that Yancy Gates is omitted. Is there any chance that this is just a screw-up and they put the wrong name and stats down?

Gates wouldn't be considered an early entry.

I don't think he gets drafted this year, or after next year if he stays at UC. If he were really even a marginal potential NBA draft pick, I don't see this as a good year to try to go pro - it's a pretty deep draft. There are at least 40 guys on the list that would go ahead of him, and that doesn't even include seniors and Euros.

Lance Stephenson is buried on the bench of a deep Pacer squad, I live in Indy and a half season ticket holder. Lance has a guarenteed 3 year contract with an option for the 4th. After this season he will have made $1.5M (700k, 800k second year) Larry Bird has publicly said Lance is by far is one of the most talented player on the team. I think everything has worked out just fine for Lance.

If he's thinking about it.....coaches should highly encourage against it. He has great potential...don't blow it by thinking twice.

It would be a bad decision on his part to enter the draft, He has no chance of even being drafted this year. He still has lots of areas to improve in his game

I'll take a shot at trying to be objective here. My view is decisions like these should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. SK is no doubt a talented basketball player but he could stand to be refined a touch. He has a nice stroke from the outside and at times he has shown an ability to get to the basket. However, his ball handling could be improved and with this I think he would see a greater ability to penetrate the lane or freeze his man as he pulls up for the intermediate range jumper.

I'm not faced with the dilemma he's facing therefore it's probably not right for me to judge but given the highly talented crop entering the draft this year and considering SK is not a household name outside the living room of all but the most ardent Bearcats fan I think he could improve his draft stock significantly by returning for another season and assessing his options at that point.

In many ways Yancy is a good case study in weighing the option to go pro. Yancy was a much more highly touted recruit and was on the national radar from the time he was in high school. There was little doubt early on in Yancy's life that someday he would play professional basketball. It was not until college that the debate shifted to whether Yancy would play stateside or overseas. It's not inconceivable that Yancy and his God given size could earn him a roster spot on an NBA squad after a year or two of development where he learns to play big to match his bulk. With that being said Yancy had four years to show what he could do and he improved with each season. I don't think Yancy hurt his draft stock by returning for a senior season campaign. And hypothetically should Yancy get hurt or just simply fizzle out he will have a college degree to his name which empirical studies show equates to lifetime earnings of over a million dollars more than someone without a college degree. Ergo, Yancy has insurance in the event basketball doesn't work out.

This could serve as a lesson for SK. I'm sure the appeal is there to enter and go make a respectable living for a young 20-something in a development league (playing a game no less!), but what happens if he suffers a career ending injury or perhaps an injury just bad enough to see him get cut? His draft stock is not sufficiently high that he can live off the investment return of his signing bonus alone.

Also, as GoUC11 stated, SK is on the brink of being one of the premier players in the Big East. This past season we witnessed SK earn second-team All Big East honors. With first-team honoree Jeremy Lamb (So. G - UConn) leaving schoool early to enter the draft, second-team honoree Scoop Jardine (Sr. G - Syr) both a senior and declaring for the draft, first-team honoree Jason Clark (Sr. G - G'Town) a senior and possibly entering the draft, and second-team honoree Maalik Wayns (Jr. G - Vill) officially declaring for the draft and therefore ineligible to return next year, and second-team honoree Jordan Theodore (Sr. G - S.Hall) graduating and his eligibility expiring, it looks as thought the primary competition has just opened up for recognition as one of the top guards in the Big East Conference. My view is SK is in a position to step in as the heir apparent to being corronated with the crown as the top guard in the Big East. In such a role he will likely receive loads of media hype, resulting in ESPN coverage on SportsCenter as well as potential for primetime slots for UC basketball games, and if only his performance improves even marginally he could very well see himself as a First Team All Big East selection which would virtually guarantee a higher draft selection.

Obviously the downside is SK could get hurt next season, but when you weigh the advantages of being one of the top 5 players in the conference with the full power of media hype transforming the words 'Sean Kilpatrick' into a household name for sports fans across the nation versus the remote chance of injury I have to think SK is better off returning for his junior season and reevaluating his draft stock a year from now. The potential upside for him versus his current status is just to large to forego a junior year campaign.

With my attempt at objectivity aside of course as a dyed-in-the-wool Bearcats fan I'd be extatic to have him back and am eagerly awaiting to see what his progression in the off season translates to on the court in the wins and losses column for my alma mater. In addition, Mick strikes me as a genuinely caring human being whom has his players' wellbeing at heart. I could see Mick deliberately showcasing SK in next year's offense putting him in a position to shine (e.g. recall Mick's no-timeout decision and all-clear when he saw SK had the ball at the end of the UConn game) and working toward this eventuality in the coming offseason. It is because of all of the above I give remote odds to SK entering the draft. You likely have Mick counseling him in a paternalistic role and pointing out the opportunity that lies before Mr. Kilpatrick to significantly improve his draft stock in the matter of a single year.

i would guess this is just some kind of rumor. at his size, his ball handling skills are not anywhere at this point what they need to be to play nba level guards. also, shot is way to inconsistent from field and ft line. however, you never know, but i hope he is way smarter than that.

This is another example the reinforces what Coach Cronin tells his players and it's something we should follow as well. Don't read/listen to the so-called experts on ESPN because they are often wrong.

This is true...Sean did follow it up by saying "I've never thought about leaving." If like to think SK knows he has some work to do before jumping to the league..."Born Ready"would have gone straight to the nba from high school if he was allowed
