Default OT: Lyons out at XU

Per multiple sources:

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask...-senior-season

I have little respect for Mack but if this was his doing, kudos.

Mack was unable to be reached Sunday morning, but sources told CBSSports.com that Lyons has had a few on and off-court issues throughout his career. Lyons was suspended two games for his involvement in the fight against Cincinnati and was also benched late in the season.

Let's face facts here. Lyons did not represent Xavier well (which is putting it nicely) in the Crosstown Shootout and the press conference immediately following the game. I commend Xavier for this decision.

Always thought Lyons was a punk from the first time I saw him at the Deveroes league.

Other than Redford (who is basically an afterthought) Lyons was the last Sean Miller guy on the team.

It will be interesting to see what a real Chris Mack team looks like, especially with the A10 allegedly adding Butler, VCU and George Mason in upcoming seasons.

Interesting that Mack added one attitude problem guy (Stainbrook) while showing another one (Lyons) the door. Makes me think Lyons' departure may be related to a specific last-straw incident.

Talented kid and I wish him the best. I wanted to dedicate this song to his legacy:

Should have happened alot sooner. One less gansta on their roster.
If Mack wanted class kids he should have been out of there alot earlier.

Mack is getting heat for the "zip em up" culture he helped create, so he's trying to Put the genie back in the bottle to keep all the Jesuits happy.

He helped create what Lyons became, but is throwing him under the bus now that they don't need him.

Oh heck no you busted out the Geto Boyz. Loved that song back in the day and used to blast the single on my Walkman casette player before basketball games sometimes.

Why does it take this long to let him go? Should have happened after the brawl if it was going to happen.

Doing it now just makes it look like winning was the No. 1 priority during the season, IMHO.

I does make you wonder if Mack and XU made this decision on their own, or if this action was part of a request/deal with UC in order to continue the Crosstown Shootout.

This quote from Coach Mack says it all, "Mark did not recognize these expectations as being important and ultimately it was decided that a change of scenery would be in his best interest."

Translation: Stop being a punk or you won't play. I guess Mark prefers to be a "gansta".

You may have Scarface and Bushwick Bill, but Big Mike ain't no Willie D.

You gotta "Do it like a Geo", or maybe "Gangsta Of Love" the Steve Miller version.
