Larry Brown and his crew are already making progress with TX area 5 star and 4 star recruits per Rivals.

Brown is Coach Cal's idol. He has sent World Wide Wes down to Dallas to get top kids for his mentor and idol. Not a shock at all, I am putting the over/under for SMU going on probation at 4 years. Any takers?

It's moderately funny that coaches and programs that have NO BUSINESS getting 4 and 5 stars magically manage to do so. Yet, we, in the Big East, do not.
Think about it, what does SMU have that we don't? Money. |

But they're going to be joining the BEast in the near future. So they actually do have that to bring to the table as well as a former NBA head coach.

Alot of people don't like him, but Larry Brown is certainly relevant. The program will get tons of exposure. Being relevant is the most critical aspect of being able to sell a recruit.

Not sure why a successful college and NBA head coach has no business getting highly-rated recruits to come play for him. He can certainly point to his success at Kansas and in the NBA as evidence of his ability to coach. And, he knows what a player needs to do to be an NBA player, so he can sell recruits on him developing them into NBA players.

If you're an opposing coach recruiting against Brown your strongest argument is Brown's inability to stay in one place very long. Longest tenure was at Philly for 5 or 6 years. Everywhere else he's had trouble staying put.

Very true 10 NBA coaching positions and working on his 4th college position in 40 years is a very telling stat. And if it wasn't for AI and Tim Thomas he probably wouldn't have been in Philly that long either. But in the end he has both a NCAA Championship ring and an NBA championship ring which kids will see right away the second he comes to visit.

The kids he's going to target won't have the intention of staying put very long either, so good luck with that if you're an opposing coach. Calipari's recruits don't care where he'll be in 4 years, either.

Who said anything about 4 years? The reality (and history) with Larry Brown is that at some point in his tenure ( sooner rather than later) he is going to convince a class of kids to sign letters of intent only to turn around a couple months later and blow out of town leaving the recruttits holding the bag. That's Larry Brown, that's how he rolls.
