Alex Dale is being greyshirted according to Alex himself. Doesn't seem like he's happy about being in Memphis until Dec.

Resisting the urge to run to Wikipedia, I'll give any of my Bearcat News brethren the opportunity to enlighten me on what exactly Grey-shirt status is.

Basically our coaches overcommitted and offered too many scholarships for this season and they asked the kid they were going to most likely redshirt to either pay his way through the fall or wait until the end of the fall semester when their seniors scholarships come off the books and they can give him one to start practicing right after the beginning of the winter semester on a full ride.

Big question for anyone who knows. We go to semesters this year any ideas on how this affects Dale?

Looks like December 15 is the last day of the Fall Semester and January 7 is the first day of the Spring Semester. So probably not on campus until then if he remains our prospect.

Thanks for the Greyshirt explanation. Kind of a bum-rap for the kid. But, then again, it's not a travesty. So, what do semesters do for co-op? Start/end of school year? Does athletics factor into decisions such as these?
