Default Caleb Stacey

Downthedrive blog reported that Stacey is no longer listed on the 2012 spring roster. Looks like his twitter account was deleted as well even though it was last used yesterday. Hopefully these are all just coincidences but it doesn't look good. Anyone seen or heard anything?

Some rumors on twitter is that he wasnt willing to commit to the full requirements of being a college football player and has decided not to play.

Please do not take that that to the bank. I really have little to no clue but that is the one rumor I heard

IF True, its better to find out now that he has no heart for the game, rather than him trying to go through the season not giving it 100% and just letting everybody down around him who would be depending on him.

Mike Dyer, Enquirer: Former Oak Hills offensive lineman Caleb Stacey decided not to play football at UC and is not with the team, according to UC #enqr #UC

Isnt Caleb the one that had originally committed to Michigan, switched to UC, which opened a spot for Michigan which they filled by taking a 4 star RB recruit from UC (cant remember his name)? The loss of the 4 star recruit caused our overall recruit rating to go from great to good or average.

If it is, and if he ends up at Michigan, I am going to hate them as much as my bucknut friends.

Wow we land a solid LOCAL recruit and the kid quits before summer camp even starts. That's a kick in the gut.

I've been following this last night and don't think anyone really knows what's happening. His roster spot , twitter account and Facebook account all disappeared yesterday afternoon.

TGO and GoBearcats31 have the story correct. Stacy simply opted not to play football any longer.

Oh wait, I did after three days of training in the ninth grade. My football playing days did not last long.

Wasnt he pretty highly recruited? Like almost a 4 star. Just seems weird. Hope he has a great future. But I hope he doesnt get to keep his scholarship.
And if he is the one Im thinking of, cost us a very highly touted recruit. This class that was so highly rated at one point has taken a big hit.

Quitters don't get to keep scholarships. Injured players yes, quitters no.

If this is over the continually-emerging info on concussions I gotta say I'd support the kid. But with a deleted fb and twitter I'm guessing something else is up.

unfortunate. Glad he did not get the scholarship money UC planned to pay him, then quit. At least he had the sense to quit prior to the seaon. His behavior also shows he didn't have the stomach for it. Just up and quit on such an opportunity. Very unusual to go that far and then decide not to play. I'm certain he will save his body many injuries as playing football really takes it's toll.

I wish him the best. It's his right to play or not. Hopefully there's nothing terrible happening in his life.

UC will be fine with the O-line..... We have the Ohio State transfer who will start this year, and we just got a verbal commitment from Wiesman, Colerain's best lineman. Still, you hate to lose a stud like Stacey.

This is pretty sudden and think you nailed this one on the head. We may never know what is going on with him at this moment nor do we have the right to intrude. Let's wish him well and end the speculation. His recruitment was a little bizaar, so whatever is happening may have been going on for a while. He opted to stay close to home fairly suddenly I recall and it may be there is something private which we don't have need to know. IF something happens down the road, I wish it nothing but the best for him and his family.

Let the kid do as he chooses. Its his life not ours. Playing a collegiate sport is a ridiculously big commitment, and its not for everybody. I respect Caleb for his decision, and wish him the best in his future endeavors. This roster move will not make or break this squad.
