every Penn state player and recruit is trying to decide which new school the are attending...4 year bowl ban means they can transfer without penalty

They'll pay off the fine in less than a year. They'll still have a stadium full of fans chanting "WE ARE PENN STATE!" They'll still have 65 kids on scholarship, appearing on TV every week.

Wrist slap, IMO.

Hopefully CBJ has some inroads with some of the players especially oline and dlinemen!

65 Walk ons? Already on twitter recruits are backing out and NCAA has waived contact rules for current players. there won't be anyone left to take the field.

Are there any inside tracks or connections with any current players at Penn State?

IMO, we dont want UC to reach out to any of their players or recruits. The last thing needed given the horrible situation is for UC to appear to attempt to take advantage of it in any way. It is likely that Pitt or WV or others will end up with some of those players, but hopefully the players will be the ones that initiate the contact/transfer.

If I was the second school on every kids list that ended up going to Penn State I am reaching out today. I don't see how anyone would find fault with another school giving a kid an opportunity to play and go to bowl games.

Wow, you take every opportunity within the rules to benefit your program, IMO.

Nothing wrong with going after these kids in this circumstance. It's a very unique situation.

Let them contact us.... we shouldn't make any effort to profit off of another teams misfortune.

I thought the punishment was fair, except I was surprised that there wasn't any "NO TV" punishment in there.

I suspect many, if not the entire 2012 class at PSU will transfer, as summer camp starts in 2 weeks, so now is the the time. Hopefully a few of them, especially D-Line will be calling.

To be real, I'm sure most every player on that roster would prefer to be anywhere other than a school now synonymous with pedophilia and cover-ups.

The fine is chump change in the world of a $1.8 billion endowment.

The real punishment is the 4 year bowl ban. They won't be able to recruit a class next year or the year after. Every incoming freshmen is going to be jumping ship in hope of something that hasn't been torpedoed.

This has probably set Penn State football back AT LEAST 10 years. The loss of scholarships and 4 year bowl ban is essentially the death penalty. In fact, I'm not sure Penn State wouldn't be better off giving themselves the death penalty for 2 years at this point.

They also need to rebrand themselves moving forward.

1. That means change the uni's. It's subtle and probably materialistic, but they scream the old guard of PSU and JoePa. Get rid of them and shed the image everyone remembers from old PSU teams

2. Donate MORE money to child abuse charities, funds, etc. Like I mentioned earlier, $60 mill to PSU is ultimately like losing $20 to us. It hurts a little, we'll get mad, but life goes on.

3. Invest in basketball. It may be the only PSU team worth watching for the foreseeable future.

Best Body and Bearcat Chris::

I couldn't disagree more. We are offering these kids a lifeline, a chance to continue and get a free education and the chance to play in a bowl game. These are chances that someone else has robbed them of and we are offering an opportunity to them now. It is just as easy to argue UC is doing the right thing by contacting and offering these poor athletes a way out of a horrible situation rather than both of your views that UC is manipulative and opportunistic. At the end of the day the media will twist it anyway they want and in 1 year nobody will care anyways so I say get who you can to help the program and help these kids.

Pursue the kids at Penn State, but not at the expense of any player currently on scholarship.

Excellent point. If we picked up a couple of PSU players, we would have to withdraw a couple of scholarships from players we have already offered. I checked PSU's rooster, and there are NO Cincinnati (or even close) players on it. 95% are from PA!

This is not true, the NCAA said may allow teams that accept these kids extra scholarships based on the timing.

SI is reporting that the NCAA is considering granting waivers to schools taking Penn State transfers allowing them to exceed the normal 85-scholarship limit for Football.

Maybe you should check a map to see what states Ohio borders?

USC sure had their program ruined by a bowl ban and scholarship reductions.
