Default UC releases 2012-2013 OOC Schedule

And here it is....

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/...e/schedule.pdf

IMO, quite the upgrade from season's past while still getting enough games that should be wins.

Maybe now we will stop hearing complaints about our week OOC schedule. In addition to Alabama (SEC) we have Iowa State (1G) and either Oregon (PAC) or UNLV. We also have New Mexico at home in addition to several mid-majors. Stonger than the past few years, anyway.

Here's the PDF ... a little easier to see at a glance:

That quote should take care of that.

I am a big fan of this schedule. If we play UNLV instead of Oregon, that's 5 NCAA tourney teams. that is indeed quite an upgrade.

I'd be a bigger fan with a better home slate. It was looking pretty good with Alabama, New Mexico, and Xavier, but now Xavier is off campus and not included in season tix package.

Not bad though.

Great slate, definitely a couple tough stretches. Expecting no worse than 11-2. Really looking forward to "rolling" the Tide and then hopefully taking down Steve Alford's Lobos in December (with obvious win over X in the middle!)

On another note, will play at New Mexico, probably at an SEC opponent in 2013-14. I know it's early, but eager to see if we can get another name on the schedule at home next year. This is a great start and if we keep building this momentum, hopefully we can get back to the "anywhere, any place" philosophy!

Outside of Alabama and New Mexico, the home slate sucks and won't sell many season tickets. The road schedule is good and should help the OOC SOS come year end.

If they are on the road @ UNM and an SEC school in '13-'14, they've got a lot of work to do on that home OOC schedule.

This is a solid schedule for 2012. We didn't get Bama or New Mexico last year, but, hey, we played Oklahoma at US Bank and lost to Marshall (our marquee home game) in OT at 5/3! Who did we play back in the Huggs days? Xavier every other year, maybe a Temple or a Rhode Island (when they were good)... And we get the Big East slate.

Kentucky's home schedule: Lafayette, Morehead State, Long Island, Baylor, Samford, Portland, Lipscomb, Marshall, Eastern Michigan. Meh

Honest question...what do you want the home schedule to look like? They have two quality OOC games at home in addition to season ticket holders getting first priority to the shootout. Name me some other schools in major conferences who have more than 2 or 3 legit opponents on the OOC home schedule? You do realize that you only have 8 or so OOC home games right? Do you really want 5 or 6 of those to be against top flight teams? All while playing in a conference that guarantees you will already be playing 8-10 games against Top 25 teams?
The schedule is not why we won't sell a lot of season tickets. It's a worthless fan base that is always looking for a reason or excuse not to go.

Tough medicine but in my opinion all too true. Thanks for the post.

This OOC schedule is WAY better then years past, I don't see what all the complaining is about. OOC games are to familiarize yourself with the new players and get ready for the B-East schedule. Which is much easier to do that at (gulp) 5/3 arena. Get a seat with a cushion on the back, get a beer and cheer.

Didn't ask me, but Xavier at home would fix it. If you move it off campus and off season tix, you need to compensate. They didn't.

No question it is a much better overall OOC schedule compared to last season (it would have taken a monumental effort to schedule one as bad if they tried). Even though there are some complaints on here about the home scheulde, it seems that is a budget issue (not sure they could possibly afford to pay someone enough to play at home that would generate Xavier level interest). The improvement of the road OOC schedule is a good direction to take - a few less Big East wins last year would've landed them on the bubble, and you don't want to be on the bubble with an OOC schedule rated in the 300s. I didn't count, but I think there were around a dozen totally abysmal opponents last season, and probably a handful fewer this upcoming season. That is certainly an improvement, alone. Maybe playing the better road OOC games will get them better exposure.

Exactly. There need to be at least 3 quality OOC home games. If Iowa State were here, then okay, but 6 of the 9 home OOC do nothing for me (Wright State only interests me because they are local). They would have been better off scheduling Miami instead of Campbell or MD-Eastern Shore. I'd rather see MAC schools (Ball State, BGSU, Toldeo, Akron) or a Cleveland State/Indiana State.

The road OOC is good, but this home schedule IMO does not make me want to run to the Shoe to buy season tickets.

If it makes you feel better, last year we had 4 RPI 300+ teams, this year only two. Plus Mississippi Valley State was 157! ;-)

They simply can not afford to make changes like that.

This is the bottom line of the problem that is facing the UC Athletic Department. Our fans base ticket buying decisions on who the opponent is. Programs with good fan bases buy tickets to see their team not the opponent. Until UC fans step up, we can never expect top recruiting classes again.

Renovate 5/3 and the value is there. NKU has a better arena.

EXACTLY!

UK sells out against Lipscomb because the have a damn good team that is fun to watch regardless of the opponent.

I think we have a damn good team that will undoubtedly be fun to watch as well...that's enough to get me to the Shoe!

Yes, and what else would you do in Lexington?

Improve the in-game experience; the NFL has the same issue.
