Same old, Same old.
At least we shouldn't have to listen about how WVU is/was the premier program much longer. I do think the guy got it right that D'ville is the team to beat this year. They finished stong (after we beat them) last year and didn't loose much to graduation. I can also see how the national people have a hard time picking us as anything more than a middlin' team, with all the talent we lost to the NFL. But that's why we play the games ... to prove them wrong. I think we can and will win the BE. I'm getting pumped for the season to start! GO CATS! |

This is humorous.............
The 10 best non-conference games: 10. Louisville at Southern Miss, Sept. 29 9. Louisville at FIU, Sept. 22 8. Syracuse vs. USC in East Rutherford, N.J., Sept. 8 7. North Carolina at Louisville, Sept. 15 6. USF at Miami, Nov. 17 5. Pittsburgh at Notre Dame, Nov. 3 4. Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh, Sept. 15 3. Temple at Penn State, Sept. 22 2. Florida State at USF, Sept. 29 1. Rutgers at Arkansas, Sept. 22 I would put UC vs. VT solidly in the middle if not higher. FIU-Louisville is an appealing game because UL was upset last year? Rutgers has no chance vs. Arkansas.

The only reason I can think this game is listed is because the Arkansas fans believed that before Petrino was dismissed that they had a national championship caliber team taking the field this Fall. With Bobby no longer there this is of course a suspect claim more so now than it was when he was there.
Either way, if they're going to list this game I don't see why UC-VTech gets ignored for any reason other than bias.

I must be the only guy on earth who thinks we're going to be better this year. I'm crazy optimistic about this season, and I'm usually not like that. CBJ has recruited well and now his guys are coming into their own. We're going to be good.

I think we're going to be better this year too.
We're returning 7 starters on the BE's best defense. Overall we only lost 13 guys on our 46-man 2-deep chart (46 instead of 44 due to nickel package on d), and both kickers are returning too. True, 4 of the losses were NFL draft picks and two of the others were very good leaders, but other than that we have almost every single man back. We had 9 early enrollees from our best recruiting class of all time. We're also adding 2 very promising transfers (one an OL from OSU, and one a DL who was a captain last year at CMU). Simply put, it's possible to make the case that this is the most experienced returning squad in America.

I agree with the assessment that we will be fine in this year especially when it comes to the defense, receivers and running backs. My real concern is the quarterback play and that Munchie will be much improved from last year. His performance in the games last year didn't exactly generate a lot of confidence, for me, in his ability to manage the game this year. We have sooo many exceptional receivers this year.. IF.. he can get the ball to them quickly and accurately. But otherwise GO BEARCATS!!

I have no doubt that the Cats' receivers are going to get open. The system provides for that, as long as the receivers are worth their salt, which they appear to be. There isn't a whole lot of depth in that corps, though (at least with experience). That's why Luallen was moved there (and to LB and back again). Still, all the hype (to the extent that anyone in the BE gets hyped) has gone to UofL. We may as well fly under the radar again ... at least until we maul the Panthers in their final foray into Nippert. |
