Default Vincent Banks

From Lance's blog...

"We have a sighting of the former Bearcat recruit

'The game came down to the end with the ball in the hands of Vincent Banks, who enrolled at GPC and joined the men's basketball team for moments like this.
Banks, honored in high school as Georgia’s Mr. Basketball in 2003, sat out three years before becoming a Jaguar. He sank a three-pointer with a half-second left in Tifton as GPC nipped Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 63-62 on Saturday '"

Tom
After everything this kid went thru I'm thrilled he is playing basketball. Hopefully he is rewarded for sacrificing to care for his family in a time of need.

http://www.bearcatnews.com/recruiting/bio/180 He was reportedly very impressive in practices during 2005 season at UC.

According to their site he had something like 11 points, 10 boards and a handfull of assists in their next game. GPC is a junior college, and obviously I have no idea if he would ever want to leave the Atlanta area to finish at a 4 year college, but if his family problems are behind him, and he gets his basketball back playing a year or two at the JC level, think Mick might be interested in someone like him?

Vincent was a non-qualifier and partial qualifer. Getting him eligible would be a problem (again).

He passed on a NCAA D1 career to take care of his ailing father which says a lot about his character.

I have to move this to the Where Are They Now section. And I was aware of Banks enrolling at GP, but apparently I failed to mention it here. Sorry.

Committed in spring of 2002. Decommitted in spring of 2003. UC took Banks the next day (or thereabouts).

Banks was Mr B-Ball in GA and ranked Top 30 (by Bob Gibbons). Butler was Mr B-Ball in OH and ranked Top 60 range. Butler has a brother who played football at UC.
