8 Bearcats (Hoops) Make Big East Honor Roll

There is no way to say this without it sounding awful, but I'd rather have 20 wins and a team GPA of 2.5 (or better) then 11 wins at a GPA of 3.0.

I know that looks bad, and is not the way you want to see the team perform, but not going to the NCAA for the last 2 years is not Bearcat basketball.

In the ideal world, they could all be over 3.0 and have 25+ wins -

Congrats for achieving the great academic performance - but no more Ron Allen's please.

This is great news and everyone on the list should be proud. It is a shame that the University doesn't highlight the Men's BBall program in their announcement. They highlight x-country, rowing, soccer, diving, volleyball, golf, which is all great, but the Men's Basketball team who had 8 of its 10 or 11 players on the list is not even highlighted in the press release. For a school that supposedly wants to change the perception of its renegade basketball program, they sure don't seem like they are interested in pointing out any of the good that is happening.

I'm surprised that Mike Williams isn't one of them. I thought he had the rep. of honor student when he transferred from Texas.

Either would be included on the list. Both were on the team but could not play in games.

The 2002 Bearcats led C-USA in GPA (better than Marquette, St Louis U, DePaul, etc) and are the only UC team EVER to win 30+ games and earn #1 seed in NCAA. Each of the 2002 recruits earned 3.0 or better in their first year (2003) at UC, too.

You CAN do both. UC has been there, done that.

Absolutely! My guess is that UC led the BEast with 8 Men's basketballers on the list.
