Did anyone see the new sweatshirts, etc. that are focusing on the Bearcat Eyes. I received an email from fansonly.com (from cstv) and can not decide what I think about it. It is just the eyes logo that they have going (like on the new billboard) and then a very, very small Cpaw. I happen to like the cpaw and think it is one of the best logo's in college sports (old one/new one whatever).
Is this a total branding change or is it a one time thing? I don't think we can attach the pictures here, but here is a link. Russeell Bearcat Eyes Sweathshirt

i don't like that sweatshirt at all. but i'm kind of a purest when it comes to the sports attire i wear. if you wore this to a sports bar most people wouldn't know that you're a Cats fan. it reminds me of those really bad air brushed wolf sweatshirts... Like this one: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...US222%26sa%3DG
i agree the C-Paw needs to be used more prominently... they only paid an arm and a leg for the damn thing. Not to mention its so simple and works well in so many graphic communications. that's just my 2 cents. |

Whether liked or not, it's all about the money. We don't have a ton of gear options compared to some other big schools, and this just puts another concept out there that people will buy because they don't have it yet. If it makes money for the university, then why not!

I usually buy a lot of stuffs with the Bearcats C-Paw logo. I would look for any other gears with the C-Paw logo instead of eyes. I am sure not many people outside Cincinnati are familar with the "eyes". I hope the new C-paw design is last one and it will last for many years.

I saw some shirts at JC Penney with the eyes logo and I don't care for it either. I like the C-Paw much better.

I was told that the "Cat Attack Eyes" were created to replace the grey cat that used to be on a lot of stuff, and are not a replacement of the C-Paw in anyway.
Some consulting firm said it was confusing that the Bearcat mascot that appeared at games looked nothing like the Bearcat cartoon that showed up on merchandise. The fact that those two looked nothing alike was bad branding so they replaced both of them with the new mascot and eye image which are much more consistent. I personally prefer the eyes to the old grey cat which looked more like a UK Wildcat to me than a UC Bearcat. |

I like the eyes, personally. I always thought the grey bearcat was too cartoonish/childish.
This seems like those cattitude shirts that UC had for a long time before, anyway. The c-paw will not be going anywhere. |
