He writes for CBS. Since CBS is not contracted with the BCS they use the AP poll. So for the company that pays him he is correct in saying WVU is unranked.

Yes that is true, but to say it over and over in the article when they are clearly widely known as a top 25 team is just ridiculous and annoying.

Doyle is a tool. He writes primarily to provoke people and it works....this thread is proof. A league win is a win no matter how unimpressive it is to the "experts". When UC plays WVU or Pitt the games are usually not going to be pretty......the teams know each other too well.

What is false? Could it be "500 times"? Because that clearly is false. Should you hold a paid writer up to a higher standard than yourself? You can't control the writer, but you can control yourself. Just asking.

Oops, that other "know-nothing" Stewart Mandel of SI agrees with Doyel:

"Teams aren't exactly lining up to face Cincinnati's third-ranked offense, either. But here's another sign of college football's new reality: The Bearcats are the BCS-conference team, yet I'm hearing far less national-title buzz for them than I am the Horned Frogs. (Meanwhile, poor Boise State is a legit top-10 team with no buzz whatsoever.) Part of that may be due to the Bearcats' close calls the past two weeks in primetime games against Connecticut and West Virginia, though they have a huge showcase game still to come at No. 8 Pittsburgh."

Don't overlook the "we hate the BCS" vote that TCU is getting from the vox populi. Every year, people look to champion a non-BCS team as proof that the system is rigged and the little guys are getting screwed. In the past, Boise State and Hawaii have benefitted from this. This year, TCU is getting the benefit of the bump.

Fortunately (or maybe un-) "vox populi" do not get to vote. Also it seems to me VCU is pretty darn impressive on the field.

We have to be immensely proud of what our team has accomplished. The problem is that this year other teams have done very well too. The computers say we're better than all but two teams. The voters that count take in to account other factors - like putting on a sexy show on the national stage. We didn't do it, they did. It's as simple as that.

We have two more chances to be sexy. If we accomplish that I think we vault TCU. A big win over Ill and a comfortable win over Pitt should do it.
