Default Movement returns...

The offense looked rejuvinated. All but Yancy who is being impaled by Cronin as I write this.

Yancy sat because lack of effort - according to mick.

Deonta needs to get out of his shooting debacle FAST.

Default Does DV need ball to get started?

DV is obviously playing with low confidence. Could it be that he just doesn't have as many opportunities to attack the basket and get revved up? He is only shooting shots that are waaay open...painful to watch them miss.

Amazing how good you can look against the 230th ranked team in the country!

Default Gotta start somewhere....

Same shots were not dropping at UAB. They at least plyed with intensity for the entire game. sans YG.

We will see if there is additional improvement against Winthrop.

Their offense is actually pretty good. Not sure what kind of competition they've played to date, but they average 85 points per game, thats ranked 8th in the country. They're no powerhouse, but their offense must be decent.

We held them to 52.

I was also glad to see that they played w/ intensity the entire game. Good bounceback game.

I'm not too concerned with our defense. We contest "most" shots and have above average size.

We were outrebounded at UAB by a decent margin. We closed the gap late, but UAB dominated the boards for the most part. UAB shot a ton of threes and that lead to long rebounds. UAB was a huge letdown and disappointment.

Lipscomb is a pushover, but I was glad to see a different team today. I understand it is easier to play at home and the other team isn't nearly as pumped up (we were UAB's biggest game of the season besides Memphis).

Lance does a great job initiating the offense. Buford is a huge advocate of running Lance at the point and sliding Vaughn to the 2. I think this would be a good idea.

PG Lance
SG Vaughn
SF Bishop (who showed a nice outside touch when he had time)
PF Gates
PF Thomas

I would like to see our rotation shorten. We should only be giving 7 players extended minutes.

Cash and Parker split backup duties at the point (each gets 5-7 minutes a game).
Davis gets limited minutes but plays extended minutes when we need to hit 3s.
Wilks and Toyloy play when we are in foul trouble. Same with Biggie.

Good effort today. With 7 minutes played in the first half, the Cats had only scored 2 points. Dixon hit a big three and from that point on they were rolling. The defense was very good, although there were stilll some open 3 pointers that Lipscomb missed in during the game. Cashmere's body language was not good when he first got into the game (in the second half), but this is to be expected as he had started the 1st 9 games. He did seem to be playing the role of a distributing point guard rather than hunting shots. Hopefullly, Cash along with Yancy will not sulk, but use this as motivation to play harder in practice and games.

Yes, Buford had a good suggestion as to letting LS play the point because he is so good w/ the ball, can create his own shot, distribute the ball, etc.

When he asked Lance about that possibility after the game, LS shrugged it off and said he likes playing the 3 position. But he knows he can play it, he just didn't want to sound too cocky or step on any toes.

Agreed 100%. However, I truly hope that Mick sits either player if the "sulking" or "attitude" continues.

You either buy into the team concept and bust your a$$, or you ride the pine and need to transfer.

It's time for a large amount of tough love.

It was good to see the team working on some offense they had consistent plays being run. I liked the fact that deonta continued to shoot he needs to keep working he will eventually start getting them in he is just in a bad slump but at a good time. Hopefully he will turn it on when UConn comes in. Im glad cash didnt start and that deonta was running the point. I hope mick continues to have parker and cash come off the bench with limited minutes. also, if yancy is going to play like that then I hope he sits the bench he looked so lazy it was sad. Thomas looked good. has great size and a nice shot, but seems a bit lost at times. he will get better with time just like most of these players. I loved the starting lineup I think that should definitely stay from here out. Although, I'd like dixon to get a start he deserves it.
Starting (if yancy steps up):
Vaughn PG
Dixon/Davis SG
Stephenson SF
Gates C
Thomas PF

I am more and more loving Dixon coming off the bench. His athleticism is a nice little boost when things are not working at the beginning.

I bet all the Mick haters have went into hiding after the beat down given Limpscomb.

Yes I know I mis-spelled it.

I like this lineup as well. Until Cash learns how to finish around the basket and makes better decisions, he does not deserve to start. I was very encouraged by Thomas' performance today. He is finally showing why he was a highly regarded addition to the team.

The biggest problem with Cash and Vaughn in at the same time is neither plays defense, neither can get the team in its offense effectively and both have been shooting poorly . I liked the combos of vaughn and davis and Cash and Parker.
