hopefully darin puts in a good word and gets amir to become a bearcat. This would be a great get for the 2011 class. Get it done baby!

Are you referring to the player Darrin Williams?

DetNews.Com(1/9/2010):

Detroit Country Day's boys basketball team is off to an 9-0 start but will be without one of the top juniors for the next three weeks.

Amir Williams, a 6-foot-10 center, suffered a sprained knee in Friday's 68-43 victory over Roseville. Country Day coach Kurt Keener said Williams' injury will not require surgery.

Also, Williams took a visit to Miami(FL) sometime around Jan 18, 2010. His recruitment is going to be long and drawn out.

From all I'm hearing with Amir, which is actually more than any other recruit, he is a heavy UC lean and it IS primarily because of Darrin Williams.

UC seemed in the mix a year ago but haven't seen the Bearcats mentioned in a while... I have no inside info, but the only time I saw AW mentioned this summer, I don't recall us being mentioned at all.

Just read less than a minute after my above post he is visiting DePaul this weekend and it looks (per Rivals profile) he visited there in August too.

Side note, DePaul making some moves since the Purnell hire (heard about a possible package deal with a couple fairly big time players plus Williams is a four-star guy too). With SJU, Rutgers and possibly DePaul stepping up there talent, would be nice for Mick to get a great big man to round out this 2011 class. Williams would be a nice get, but not sure if we're really in conention still.

Most believe he is out of the picture. But now people are saying we are going after big men. I would assume Amir could be a target. I don't see why he wouldnt.

From Bob Baptist of the Columbus Dispatch (I think this might confirm UC is a long shot, if even that):

Ohio State will get a visit from 2011 big man Amir Williams on a weekend still to be determined, Williams' coach at Detroit Country Day School, Kurt Keener, said in an e-mail today.

Williams, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center, made an official visit to DePaul last weekend and has one to Florida scheduled this weekend. Keener said Purdue and Ohio State also will receive visits but was not sure if dates had been set.

The other two schools Williams had in-home visits with last month are Michigan and Oklahoma, but he has not scheduled official visits to either and reportedly has eliminated Michigan. Keener told the Arizona Daily Star last month that Williams has told him he wants "to go away for school. The economy is in the tank here and kids are looking to go new places."

UC has not been in the mix for some time. UC has not been recruiting him and he has not shown much interest in UC.

I forget his name but what happened to that 7 footer that was a skinny as a rail and was real raw? He was dominate in his films against a bunch of 6 footers.

No, a 2011 recruit that also has a brother. I think that they are Canadians.
