It's a glorified scrimmage. Has no bearing whatsoever on our resume.

Can never get myself too worked up over a scrimmage, no matter how hard I try.

I'm with milfordcats on this one. I think this just gives the team an additional x number of practices and playing together as a team. I fail to see any downside to this except for injuries, but that can happen at any time - during practice or just workout drills (Mike Williams?).

Syracuse lost to a D2 team in a pre-season game last year. It didn't affect their season one iota. Carleton is the equivalent of a very good D2 team.

The bashers would be bashers regardless. The supporters would be quiet, temporarily. The casual fans might not even notice.

Its not the fact that a loss would effect UC's season or anything like that. It would further effect the fanbase.

If they lose any it will be to Carleton who beat Kansas the year after they won the NC and who is a perenial Canadian final four team.

Two interesting points: They are going to focus on offense during these practices and that Bishop is still not reinstated.

I'm not a big MC fan, but most of these comments after the article make me embarassed to be a UC fan.

Many of those comments are from a malcontent that we banned last year. I've noticed multiple ex-members posting on the Enquirer site because no one else will have them. They have nothing better to do than sit around and bash the program and that's why they are no longer here.

One of the posts is posted directly at us. That's just sour grapes from someone who thinks they are above the rules. We are not going to put up with people who can do nothing but post vitriol all day long. There is a difference between opposing viewpoints or criticism and bashing and some people will never figure out the difference. Those people have and will continue to go away.

I'm assuming "dossbig", who must be Doss, is who you're referring to? I can't believe the doucher specifically named this site and described it as such, which couldn't be further from the truth.

I pointed that out to the enquirer web folks.

Sorry guys, I was not bashing the program but rather trying to distribute information and begin a rational discussion on the benefits of the extra 10 days of practice. I do agree that they do need to work on the offensive end of the game and am one that hope (and thinks) that they will be better this year.

You're not at fault. Ucat4 was referring to the comments on the Enquirer site not here.

Can't hurt to practice & play more games together.
Are the games going to be televised? Or taped delayed? I can never get enough of UC BB.
Also, in the Enquirer today, Cronin stated they were going to work on offense. I'm glad to see there is going to be an emphisis on trying to score. We had a good defense last year but couldn't score. Now if the defense holds & the offense comes around. We
should be much better in the long run.

Its about friggin time that basketball started up. I am so pumped just reading this article. I read one article where coach Cronnin said that Justin Jackson is going to be great....add that to Kilpatrick and Gates and I think this season might be something special. Who does everybody think the starting lineup will be?
I'll guess Parker, Kilpatrick, Gates, Thomas, and Wright with Jackson the first off the bench.

Who cares. It is national attention. UC's basketball program needs attention in just about any way it can get it.

Quality question but I think this is probably a topic for a new thread.

Jackson will not be the first off the bench. Early on in real games, he won't see much time on the floor at all. He is high energy and fun to watch, a guy I think we will like later on, but he is not even close to Big East ready yet.

I took from the Cronin interview that he may not be that concerned with winning or losing. He seems that he wants to find out who can score and who will play. I do not think that we will see the revolving 12 player rotation this year.
