Default ESPN Colleg Football Show - What If?

This was intersting to play this game of "What If?"

Arkansas vs Tennessee from 98(?) I think. Both teams undefeated in teh last week. Arkansas leading late, fumbled the ball away allowing the Vols to score and win.

Tennessee went on to face Florida St in the BCS title game.

What if Arkansas did not fumble and went on to win?

(Not sure I've got all these right in order but...)

FSU would have played undefeated OSU in title game instead of Tennessee
OSU's Cooper may not have been fired, thus no room for Tressel at OSU
Tressel goes to Migh St instead
John L Smith stays at Louisville leaving no room for Bobby Petrino
Danotnio stays at UC leaving no room for BK
BK never gets the ND job as a result
Petrino never gets the Louisville job, or the Falcons job that follows

Tressel would have never left Youngstown State for any job other than OSU. As a big YSU supporter since I grew up there I have always followed his career. He was offered numerous positions before OSU and he turned them all down including the University of Miami Hurricanes. So while you came up with an interesting what if, one key part would have never happened.

Wasn't there talk in Bearcat Rising that Tressel was very interested in the UC job, but Minter got it. It sounded as if Tressel would have taken it too. I can't imagine that he would have turned down MSU to stay at YSU. Miami(FL) is in a different region of the US. MSU, while 4-5 hours away is still in the same region, both to live and recruit. It's totally hypothetical but if Tressel felt he was a Big 10 coach, MSU has almost as good of a shot of winning the conference as OSU/Michigan/Penn St...there's not that much of a drop off and he would have been king there had he turned them into something.

It wasn't me, it was ESPN asking what if. I just repeated it. I still find it interesting. Of course there are other what if's to consider in there also. For example, if Dantonio stayed at UC, would BK have been offered another D1 job? Would Danotonio have left UC for other than MSU, and BK still get the CU job? Countless what if's.

I thought BK was at a D-1 school before he came to Clifton

You're right, CMU is D1. I was not implying anything else.
