Default Early Signing Period in November

Does anyone know who have already given a verbal to UC? Who will we have sign in November? Only a few weeks away.

Moving this topic up as November starts next week, and I'm tired of seeing egg-savier headlines in the bearcat recruiting section.

Signing day is this week. I am guessing this:

Current Verbals:

Octavious Ellis, Jermain Sanders, Ge-lawn Guyn, Shaq Thomas.

Others:

Jeremiah Davis, JUCO Center

Is there a JUCO center out there right now that they're after who you think will sign this week or are you looking ahead to the spring?

Without having any inside knowledge, it would personally be a pleasant surprise to see a C sign in the early period... as long as our 4 verbals and JD sign on the dotted line I'll be happy... it will give Mick a few months to focus on finding that one last perfect player for the system.

i would guess that in the end we sign 7 guys (pure speculation). we have 6 open scholarships, and one extra for player attrition/nba early entry/etc.

Does it really make sense to save one for early entry? (I'm assuming you mean Gates) Use it and if we have early entry issues you get it back.

It does not make sense to save one for early entry (if the right talents are available, you do not pass anything up, but that probably will not happen with so many open spots). I know in the Big Ten you are able to oversign by one (thus one person will end up transferring if the team has 14 scholarship players come the next season), though I do not know if the Big East has that rule.

The possibility of 6 or 7 incoming guys next year scares me because there is such an imbalance in scholarships. That's why a JuCo guy or two wouldn't be bad at all (or if they accepted a Thomas-like transfer).

However, if we sign our four commits and maybe get another like Davis (keep in mind not everyone signs in the fall), you don't give out scholarships just to fill up roster spots. Unsigned guys can reopen their recruitment, a 2012 talent could possibly reclassify (like Wilks) or, again, maybe you land a transfer. It's okay to have an open scholarship if the right player is not available - especially if it comes down to a freshman who could burn a scholarship if he is not a necessity/does not get a lot of PT versus someone who could fill an immediate hole (i.e. a solid post player to join Gates and Jackson and a probably unproven Gaines next year),
